The 4 pillars of Kuipers

Expertise

We have extensive experience in detailed design and the construction of installations for the food processing and process industry. The Dutch dairy industry sets increasingly high quality standards.

Kuipers Woudsend supplies sanitary and aseptic systems that meet these ever-increasing present-day requirements. Kuipers Woudsend is a member of the EHEDG, further advancing our commitment to hygienic design and construction of food industry equipment.

Complete solutions

We supply complete stainless steel solutions – from cooling and heating systems, agitators and tanks integrated with stairs and platforms, to piping, control panels and wiring.

Kuipers Woudsend ensures the entire system meets all applicable standards and regulations, including EHEDG document-10 for food industry tanks.

Short lead times

There are four reasons we can guarantee short lead times: experience, quality, commitment and efficient planning. For you as a client, this translates into real time savings across your entire project.

Short lines of communication

Our company is characterised by minimal overhead and correspondingly short lines of communication. We strive for optimal support throughout the entire process, from quotation to delivery. Every client is assigned a dedicated internal project manager who supports you from start to finish.

Engineering

From a rough brief to a fully worked-out design – our engineers make it happen. Including 3D design, calculations and all required documentation.

Cost savings of up to 25%

One of the key strengths of our approach is proven in practice: cost savings of up to 25% have been achieved through close collaboration between the Procurement and Engineering teams of our clients and those of Kuipers Woudsend.

Kuipers Woudsend’s engineering department can take full responsibility for development based on a functional design. We manage the entire project – from detailed design and procurement through to quality inspection, on-site installation and commissioning. We also take on smaller-scope projects, for instance by going straight into production based on drawings supplied by the client.

Our well-trained engineers design and calculate everything clients need – from storage tanks and pressure vessels to piping and other components of production installations, right up to full plant designs. They respond quickly and effectively to your specific requirements. We handle the entire process: from specification and plan of approach, through production, delivery and installation, to on-site commissioning and maintenance. Our engineers have extensive hands-on experience, market knowledge and work within PED regulations, supported by ERP integration. We use 3D design software (Inventor) and advanced tools for flat pattern development.

Production

Our workshop in Woudsend is equipped for large and complex projects. From a single component to a complete process installation – everything is built under controlled conditions by certified professionals.

Depending on the client’s requirements, Kuipers Woudsend produces individual components for one client and a fully integrated process installation with controls for another. We inspect internal pipe-to-pipe welds using an endoscope and have an ultrasonic wall thickness gauge and roughness meter at our disposal. We are also authorised to re-stamp batch numbers.

Equipment

In addition to standard machines and materials for stainless steel process equipment, Kuipers Woudsend has: a decoiling machine with straightening rolls and guillotine shears, a computerised ROUNDO 4-roll bending machine, a welding fixture for plasma/TIG welding of longitudinal seams, orbital welding of pipe-to-pipe and pipe-to-plate, a welding carousel, a vertical TIG butt-welding machine and modern TIG/MIG equipment. Grinding, polishing, pickling and passivating are carried out in-house. All other stainless steel surface treatments are available within a 15-kilometre radius of Woudsend.

Installation & Assembly

Large or small, straightforward or complex – our mechanics work anywhere. A six-metre diameter tank on a hard-to-reach site? We never back down from a challenge.

In addition to design, production and delivery, we also handle the installation and assembly of the vessels, tanks and auxiliary equipment we produce. Our mechanics work according to strict instructions and procedures. Kuipers Woudsend is SCC** certified.

No project is too demanding for us. Whether it involves placing and anchoring a tank with a diameter of 6 metres and a length of 25 metres, fitting piping to an existing system, or levelling a tank in less than ideal conditions – we take it on.

Procurement

Kuipers Woudsend also takes care of procuring all materials and services required for a project. Procurement can be arranged with suppliers under terms agreed between the client and supplier(s).

Service & Maintenance

A good product also needs good maintenance. We are not just there at handover – we remain available for maintenance, breakdowns and modifications.

Without maintenance, everything comes to a halt. To ensure your business keeps running, installations must be kept in top condition. Our technicians maintain your valuable equipment, replace critical parts in time and resolve any faults promptly.

Delivery & Transport

Our production facility in Woudsend is located on open waterways. Large equipment can be delivered by road or by ship – an advantage few manufacturers can offer.

Delivery is just as important as production. We arrange safe and efficient transport for everything we build. Finished products are collected by a carrier and delivered to your site. Our production halls have large doors, making them suitable for oversized equipment. Kuipers Woudsend has excellent road access and is situated directly on open waterways, allowing large installations to be shipped to their final destination.

Mengtanks roomsaus

Cream sauce mixing tanks

For a major dairy producer in the south of the Netherlands, Kuipers built two mixing tanks for cream sauces. Fully adapted to EHEDG requirements, with optimised agitators and Duplex material chosen for its resistance to the corrosive effects of salts.

Nickel alloy drying towers

Kuipers produced three drying towers from a special nickel alloy for drying permeate — an aggressive whey by-product for which standard stainless steel is unsuitable. Delivered to sites in the Netherlands, Germany and the United States.

KIWA-certified storage tanks

In 2018, Kuipers Woudsend received the KIWA product certificate for the supply of vertical cylindrical steel storage tanks up to 150 m³, in accordance with assessment guideline BRL-K756/03.

Drying tower for FrieslandCampina

For FrieslandCampina in Meppel, Kuipers supplied a drying tower with a diameter of 10.5 metres. Due to its exceptional dimensions, the tower was built in two sections and transported by barge.
